13 years later... And we're still really close :)
Anyways, the first half of the trip went smoothly right up until I needed to take a bus... My train was late and so I had to rush to the bus stop! I made it with almost 10 minutes to spare and wondered around like a lost puppy! Someone finally came up to me and tried to help... In a language I didn't understand! To be honest, I didn't even know what country I was in!!! I said I spoke English and he eagerly called to Helga because apparently only Helga spoke English...(her English wasn't very good, but she knew yes and no) so I showed her my ticket and told her my destination was Luxembourg! I thought I had lucked out when she told me exactly where to stand for my bus arriving at 11:15... I felt the luck start to run out around 11:25 when I finally accepted I had missed my bus. -_- As I wondered around aimlessly... Again... I had a little old man come up to me and speak in the language I still hadn't figured out... I thought it was either German or Dutch but the dialects sound so different sometimes (and I really don't speak either of those languages!) I smiled and said "I only speak English! Sorry" so of course, he continues to talk to me in this unknown language! After about a minute of me saying "I'm sorry! I really only speak English!" a guy stopped and translated for me! (Lord bless this man who spoke English because he literally saved me!) anyways - it took 5 people yelling across a bus station to finally get me where I needed to go!! They must have really thought I was dumb because they called Helga over again to translate the time the bus would be arriving... Even though it was written down... The numbers are written the same in English and Dutch and German! Gah :/ haha so I had to wait 2 hours in the little city where I had no idea where I was... So what else would I do but call my mom! (she always fixes everything) well after explaining to her how lost I was and not knowing what country I was in or what language they spoke - I lost minutes on my phone... My poor mother couldn't get ahold of me! So being the wonderful daughter that I am, I went and bought a German sim card. They said it only works in Germany but it didn't matter, I just needed to get ahold of my mom so she did worry! So as soon as I paid and was walking out the door the man said "thanks, it will only take 2 hours to activate..." -_- so by the time it was activated - I was already in Luxembourg! Ughhh so my mom had to wait almost 6 hours!! Haha (Joey - can you imagine?! Haha talk about not sleeping!!) anyways After I calmed down from the craziest hour of my life I wondered around and got a few pictures :)
This girl had the same back pack as me! :D we smiled at each other. Haha
McExpress... It's a walk thru instead of a drive through!!! Hahaha
I assume this store is similar to forever 21... It's just over here 18 is a better age (in Europe you can drive and drink when you're 18 - in America you can drive at 16 and drink when you're 21!)
Anyways I went from Germany to Luxembourg to Belgium and when I got to Belgium, Luc took me to France! (it's only 10 minutes away)
The people I am staying with live in Torgny, Belgium. The mom is Ann and the dad is Luc. They have the cutest son named Felix who I used to play with when I lived in Belgium - he is now 11!! They were our landlords in Antwerp! So we lived right above them. They still have their wonderful parrot, Papa Joe! But now they also have 3 cats and a dog! The dog was great :) they have a beautiful house right beside a farm house that they use as a bed and breakfast! It was so beautiful!!! I'll be sure to post pictures!!
